Irish Setter Pub

We were in Presque Isle by 5:30 on a Friday night so we thought we might be able to get in at Irish Setter.  Usually the parking lot is so full that it appears the wait for a table will be long.  It might just be that the parking lot is inadequate for the restaurant.  Parking early was difficult.

When I entered the restaurant, I noticed a few empty tables so we decided to give it a try.  The bartender told us to seat ourselves so we picked the only table that was set for four.  Then we waited, and waited, and waited.  It became obvious that the waitress assigned to our table was taking the order for the large table nearby.  It seemed to be a complicated order and she was doing everything she could to get the order correct with separate checks for a bunch of college-aged adults.  The waitress in the adjacent section stopped by twice and told us that she would make sure our waitress brought us menus.  I am not sure why she couldn't hand us a couple of menus while we were waiting.

When our waitress finally made it to our table, she was pleasant, knowledgeable, and very efficient.  We didn't wait for anything else during the rest of our visit.  My daughter ordered the child's cheese burger, my husband ordered a large nacho, and I went for the prime rib medium rare with baked potato.

My husband ordered a black and tan and I got a glass of malbec.  We both enjoyed the beverages that arrived promptly.   The salad that came with my meal was disappointingly small.  It was presented on a bread plate.  On the plus side, it was not a salad mix and included romaine lettuce, tomatoes and red onions.

Our meals came fairly quickly for a busy Friday night.  The little cheeseburgers with fries were good according to my daughter.  My husband described the nachos as acceptable.  The prime rib was a great disappointment.  It was cooked medium well but I did not send it back.  It had little flavor so I was not optimistic that another piece would taste much better.  The au jus was very tasty.

With three meals, three alcoholic beverages, and two lemonades our meal came to $55.  We probably won't hurry back soon.
